Often Orthodontic treatment is best completed in the early teenage years when all of the adult teeth are present and all teeth can be moved at once with fixed braces. However in some cases there are problems or irregularities that require early intervention to prevent the problem worsening and resulting in a less than perfect outcome in the later years.

Some issues outlined below can be identified early and steps taken to reduce their effects on the long term health and stability of the teeth.

  •  Missing or extra Teeth: Early screenings with X rays help detect any abnormalities in the number of teeth.
  • Crowding & Spacing Issues: Addressing crowding or spacing issues early can prevent more complex problems later in life.
  • Harmful Bite Issues: An early evaluation will catch any signs of harmful bite issues, such as overbites or crossbites.
  •  Jaw Growth Issues Assessing jaw growth at an early stage helps identify issues like a narrow palate or a small lower jaw. This allows for timely intervention and corrective measures.
  • Assess for Proper Teeth Eruption Patterns: Early detection ensures that your child’s permanent teeth erupt in a healthy and orderly manner, reducing the risk of complications.
  • Correct Harmful Oral Habits: We can guide in correcting any harmful oral habits such as thumb or finger sucking. This fosters good dental practices from a young age.
